Material Damage Specialist

Under the direction of the Material Damage Department Manager, the Material Damage Claims Specialist performs the essential functions of the position, which includes but is not limited to duties as described below:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties of this position are to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls, emails and other communications from internal and external customers, vendors, financial institutions and shops related to material damage claims.

  • Review and audit material damage estimates and supplements and make recommendations as to their accuracy to keep costs down and help oversee any appraisers we employ
  • Interact with shops, other carriers, customers, and attorneys with regards to the material damage/repair aspect of claims
  • Document review of appraisals from all sources and make recommendations as to whether appraisals reflect reasonable and customary charges
  • Dispose of total loss vehicles in a cost effective manner including determining accurate valuations, moving vehicles to storage free locations promptly and handling all total loss settlement in compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Complies with state and federal laws, Department of Insurance criteria, insurance carrier criteria and follows and enforces Aspire General Insurance/partner’s policies, procedure and work rules
  • Writes appraisals using licensed software
  • Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance
  • Other duties as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Five plus years’ experience in Property and Casualty insurance industry
  • Must have a clear understanding of insurance industry practices, standards and terminology
  • Experience handling vehicle estimating, all types of vehicle damage claims and repairs and total losses
  • Must be able to pass a background check with the anticipated goal of acquiring and maintaining a current Independent Adjuster License with the Department of Insurance
  • Must have a disciplined approach to all job-related activities
  • Must have a solid foundation of personal organization, sound decision making and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and customer service skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a non-exempt position which complies with alternative work schedule when applicable
  • This position may require mandatory overtime as deemed appropriate by management
  • The office is that of a highly technical company supporting a paperless environment
  • Vision abilities to work at close range and with small print.
  • Physical efforts required include typing, repetitive small motor activity, grasping, stooping; reaching, standing, lifting light objects under 10 pounds frequently and climbing occasionally (small step ladder to reach supplies)

Job Type: Remote

Pay Range: $26 – $35/hr with $1000 Sign-On Bonus
